Originally established in 1964, the University Archives holds over 4,300 cubic feet of office records and university as well as student publications from the University and its three campuses in Medford, Boston, and Grafton. The Archives is also the repository for manuscript collections by Tufts faculty, alumni, affiliated individuals (such as Edward R. Murrow) and organizations (e.g., the World Peace Foundation). In addition to documenting the history of Tufts, its holdings are strong in environmental studies, theater history, international affairs, broadcast history, and literature.
Records are arranged by office of origin. Exceptions are legacy files for which office of origin could not be determined. These are organized by broad subjects.
Collection level information and finding aids are available through the Tufts Digital Library interface and its search and view options. Not all collections have detailed finding aids (box and folder/item listings) and unprocessed collections may not be available for research. If you are interested in these records, please contact the DCA. For lists of available university, manuscript, and publication collections, click on the links listed above.
