DCA Staff Shines at SAA

The annual Society of American Archivists conference was held last week in Washington D.C. A large number of our staff attended this conference, and many of them presented at various sessions.

On Wednesday, August 11th, Susanne Belovari, Archivist for Reference and Collections, made a presentation to the Business Archives Section on Creative Archival Advocacy Projects from Abroad as part of the Archives Learning Institute. More information on this presentation is available here.

On Saturday, Veronica Martzahl, Records Archivist, participated in a session called "The Distributed Custody for Archival Preservation Environments (DCAPE) Project: Status Report and Demonstration." Later in the afternoon, Krista Ferrante, Project Archivist, participated in "Tools and Processes for Trustworthy and Scalable Electronic Accessioning." For information on these sessions and access to the powerpoint presentations, click here.

But in many ways, the best part of conferences is the opportunity to reconnect with friends and colleagues. In the picture below, Veronica Martzahl, DCA Records Archivist, catches up with former DCA casual employees Holly Smith (currently with the Southern Historical Collection at UNC-Chapel Hill), Michelle Romero (currently with Northeastern University Archives and Special Collections), and Laura Uglean Jackson (currently with the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming).

On another note, it has come to our attention that our blog software is deleting some of the comments you make before we ever see them. This makes us sad, because we enjoy conversations with you! We will be shifting to another blog platform sometime this fall, and hopefully that will solve the problem.
