Thank you for your interest in visiting our Reading Room. As of September 2020, for the health and safety of our staff and researchers, our Reading Room will be closed until at least January 2021. Please visit our update page for more information.
Tufts University Digital Collections and Archives welcomes all researchers to visit the DCA Reading Room – no Tufts affiliation is required.
All researchers are required to create a Tufts Archives and Special Collections Research (TASCR) account. Your TASCR account allows you to request materials directly through the Tufts Digital Library and our finding aids as well as the Tufts University Library Catalog. Your account also allows you to maintain a record of your requests, manage your requests 24 hours a day, order copies and scans, and plan ahead to make the most of your visit to our Reading Room. See Navigating your TASCR Account for more information.
Our Reading Room is located on the ground floor of Tisch Library on the Medford campus and is open Monday – Friday, 9 am – 4 pm. Our hours are subject to change, so please be sure to review our Hours. Because we have an active teaching with archival resources program and often use the Reading Room during the semester, you may wish to review our Reading Room and Outreach Calendar.
While no appointment is necessary, you may wish to contact us in advance to make sure that we can make your trip worthwhile. Scheduling a visit in advance through the Tufts Digital Library and our TASCR system allows staff to retrieve offsite materials (please allow two business days) and onsite materials in advance and ensure materials are ready for use when you arrive.
If you are planning to visit our Reading Room, please be prepared to present photo identification to verify the information you submitted as part of the online registration process.
